Sheilagh Wilson's Training Hints shelga@glasgow.almac.co.uk The best way stop jumping is to to do an incompatible behaviour. For example, if your dog is sitting to greet people, she can't be jumping. I use a clicker to train but the same method will work without one. Have a friend approach your dog. While she is jumping up and fussing have them pointedly ignore her, no matter what she does. The instant she sits have them say good dog and give her a treat or make a fuss. (She will probably start bouncing when they do this but it will soon stop as she realizes the rules of the game). Repeat this with as many different people as possible. If everybody ignores her while she is jumping up and gives her attention and treats when she is sitting, guess which behaviour will become stronger? Puppies just want attention, if jumping up gets them ignored they will soon stop it. Make sure everyone approaching her knows the rules of the game as if she sometimes still gets fussed for jumping it will make it slower to die out. You could also train this by asking her to sit, but that way you will have to command her to be good, the above way she works it out for herself.
